Women’s health research outlook

I attended the Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM) forum last week and I thought it was interesting that the keynote speaker framed the importance of women’s health as it relates to/benefits men. Does this mean that funding for women’s health in the US has to be portrayed as beneficial to men in order to get funding? I was shocked by this angle, while it made sense and is good that it benefits men, there was more of an emphasis on the importance for men than for women which was interesting. Not sure if anyone has thoughts.
