About Unison
Our Mission
Unison is for you. An online community created by, with, and for women, where you can learn, connect, and share your unique experiences around health and wellness. Here, you can gain the knowledge and confidence you need to advocate for yourself, ask better questions at medical appointments, and support others on their journeys. Unison isn't a replacement for formal healthcare; it's a supportive companion, helping you feel prepared and empowered as you navigate your health. You don't have to feel lost, alone, or uncertain anymore. By opening up and sharing your story, you help make women's health less confusing, less isolating, and less taboo for all of us. Together, we're building a space where you feel understood, inspired, and supported every step of the way.
Who are We?
Gabriela Newell and Andréanne Chu Breton-Carbonneau met in elementary school in Greater Boston, Massachusetts and reconnected after college after discovering some overlap in their professional interests. They are excited that years later they have been able to collaborate to bring Unison to life.
Gabriela Maria Newell - Founder
Gabriela is a City Planner and Economics consultant who works in the infrastructure space. She pursued this career to help create access to important resources like healthcare through sustainable transportation. Gabriela came up with the idea for Unison in 2022 when she realized how much she could learn about her own health and wellness through speaking with friends and learning about their experiences. As someone who did not focus her studies in hard sciences or in a medical field, she realized there is a need for a platform for women to learn more about their bodies, health, and wellness.
Andréanne Chu Breton-Carbonneau - Co-Founder
Andreanne is a health equity researcher and consultant who works at the intersection of public health, community engagement, and systems change. She is the founder of ACBC Consulting, a strategic service design firm that partners with governments and nonprofits to advance climate resilience and health equity. She co-founded Unison out of both professional insight and personal experience—having spent years navigating painful, confusing, and unresolved symptoms related to endometriosis. Despite her background and familiarity with health systems, Andreanne often feels unprepared and unheard in medical settings, and has found clarity and solidarity through honest conversations with friends. Through Unison, she hopes to help other women feel more informed, supported, and less alone in their health journeys.
